CARLOTTA COCCHI
Carlotta is a Florentine singer, currently artistic director of Empireo RoofTop in Florence and mother of a beautiful child, Levante.
After attending Cesare Alfieri Political Science with a major in International Studies, she left for Erasmus at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid where she began her thesis on nonviolence and nonviolent civil movements.
Carlotta approached singing at the age of 24. Mainly self-taught, she is not frightened by the "time lost before" and thus began performing at every jam in and around Florence. Her first live show was acoustic in the summer of 2014 with what would later become his working lineup: the acoustic duo Cheek2Cheek. In time she decided to deepen her study of singing and thus undertaked a three-year course with vocal coach Davide Piludu Verdigris (teacher and songwriter) and with various seminars at Mogol's Cet with other Italian singers such as Paola Folli. Her passion for music was born listening to her parents' records (Genesis, Stevie Wonder, Beatles, U2, Ray Charles, Joni Mitchell, Lucio Battisti, Lucio Dalla, Aretha Franklin and many others). She co-founded a music workshop (The Thirteenth Note) with which she collaborated for 3 years.
Currently, in addition to being a valuable mezzo-soprano in Vocal Blue Trains, she is a singer in Chek2Cheek (acoustic guitar and vocal duo), Charly Cess & the Motown Briks (soul R'n'B band) and Meteors (alternative house band). In addition to being a performer in numerous ensembles, Carlotta is also a singer-songwriter, and in 2016 she began the pre-production of her first EP, participating in the 2016 Tour Music Fest and coming in 2nd place in the singer-songwriter category with her unreleased song "Ghosts." Her inspiration comes from great bluesmen and artists such as Ray Charles, Jimi Hendrix, Etta James, Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Lucio Dalla, Pino Daniele, Florence Welch, Matt Corby, Jill Scott, Laura Mvula, and Amy Winehouse. Besides music and her family, she loves her Jack Russell Goliath, good rum, good concerts, nature, and spending time with her friends. She is a vegetarian and a practitioner of Soka Gakkai Buddhism.
